West Woods Centre was born from lived experience. Our principal Ferzana, a speech therapist and special needs mother herself, experienced the isolation that families often face — and decided to build something different.
Together with Kate More, she created a centre where every family is welcomed with love, compassion, and empathy. “We might not always have the answer at West Woods, but we will hold your hand on the path to find them.”
We believe in holistic, personalised education that honours each child's unique way of experiencing and engaging with the world.
Each learner receives a carefully crafted plan that integrates their academic and therapeutic goals. We tailor methods to meet every student's unique needs — academically, emotionally, and developmentally.
Our educators hold therapeutic backgrounds, ensuring learner-specific accommodations are naturally woven into daily teaching. Full access to the D-CAPS curriculum within a supportive, adapted environment.
Classrooms are designed for children with Cortical Visual Impairment — minimal wall decor, solid-colour furniture, and adaptive curtains that allow precise control of lighting gradients.
We support children who use alternative forms of communication, ensuring every voice is heard, respected, and actively developed within their individual communication profile.
Every corner of West Woods Centre is thoughtfully designed — calm, accessible, and purpose-built for our learners.
Our team combines therapeutic expertise with genuine compassion — because great education is built on both.
A Speech Therapist who has worked with individuals with severe multiple disabilities, acute care, and long-term rehabilitation. As a special needs mother herself, Ferzana built West Woods to be the space she wished had existed.
